Spring Break is upon us, which means it’s time for a vacation! Whether you would like to stay indoors or be outside, Central Texas is full of great places to take your family for a few days of fun.
Since traveling is more costly these days than ever, more families are opting to partake in staycations, or a vacation spent at home. Living in Central Texas means that there is always something to do, usually just a short car-ride from your own backyard.
- Zilker Park. Zilker is well known for being a place where you can enjoy the outdoors. This Spring Break, take your family to Zilker and enjoy the park, train rides, and snacks. You can also catch the Zilker Kite Festival on March 12th.
- Barton Springs Pool. While you are at Zilker, check out Barton Springs Pool. It’s a great place to relax and take a much needed dip in. In order to swim with a lifeguard on duty, you will have to pay $1 per child and $3 for yourself. This is definitely a great deal for a fun day outdoors with the family!
- SXSW. When you think about South by Southwest, you may not immediately think of kids. However, SXSW has many choices for families with young kids that are sure to be enjoyable. Also, many of these events are free and open to the public! Click here for a complete calendar of activities.
- Austin Aquarium. The Austin Aquarium is a great place for indoor fun. You can take a nice stroll through the Aquarium while feeding and even touching some of the animals. Before heading to the Aquarium, make sure to check out their website for deals on tickets.
Whether you decide to partake in any of these activities, or some of your own, always remember to pack the essential things for your child, such as medications, healthy snacks and sunscreen. If you remember these, you are sure to have a fun-filled Spring Break with your entire family!
